RICHMOND – Today, Virginia candidate for governor Senator Jennifer McClellan released the following statement commending the U.S. Congress for passing President Biden’s American Rescue Plan:
“As our Commonwealth begins to recover from the challenges and impacts of the pandemic, I applaud President Biden and Congress for delivering critical relief to working families and small businesses across Virginia,” McClellan said. “The American Rescue Plan will be a powerful step towards rebuilding the health of our communities, schools, and economy.
“The new relief bill will provide crucial investments in expanding workplace protections, lifting 85,000 Virginia children out of poverty, and providing direct stimulus relief to millions of Virginians and state and local governments. I am particularly pleased that the law will provide funding to stabilize the child care industry, which further supplements the child care stabilization bill that we passed in Virginia this year. I look forward to working with the Biden Administration as we continue to address the inequities laid bare by the pandemic and move Virginia forward. The American Rescue Plan provides the groundwork for the work ahead to revitalize every community in Virginia and build a brighter future for Virginia families.”
