I write today to announce a staffing change in my Senate District Office. My Chief of Staff Abbey Philips has accepted an appointment as Assistant Secretary of the Commonwealth. From the bottom of my heart, I thank Abbey for her decade of service, first as my Master of Social Work intern, Legislative Aide when I was in the House of Delegates, and as Chief of Staff in my Senate Office. She has been a trusted and valued member of my team. My constituents and I have been well served in Abbey’s decade of attentive and compassionate service. I wish Abbey all the best as she transitions to this new opportunity to serve Virginians.
I’m pleased to announce that my Legislative Assistant, Maryn Wood, will become Chief of Staff. Maryn is excited to continue serving the constituents of the 9th District. Like Abbey, Maryn started as my Master of Social Work Intern, then became my Legislative Aide. Maryn graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2020 with a dual Master of Social Work in Administration, Planning and Policy Practice, and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Maryn is passionate about affordable housing, environmental justice, and pursuing equity for all. She lives in Richmond with her husband, Des, and their two dogs, Ryland and Greyland (named after streets in Richmond).
Remember, you may contact my Senate office by email at [email protected] or by phone at (804) 698-7509. Our duty is to serve you, so we are grateful for your questions and comments regarding public policy issues, legislation, requests for personal assistance, and more.
