300 Virginia inmates — some serving life — could soon be eligible for parole for the first time

With Democrats holding the power in both chambers and the governor’s office for the first time in decades, Lindsey thinks his bill has a good chance of passing. It now goes to the full House floor.

Sen. Jennifer McClellan, D-Richmond, has a nearly identical bill in the Senate. Both would exclude Fishback inmates convicted of capital murder, where the punishment is life in prison or the death penalty.
