Delegate Jennifer McClellan Declared the Democratic Nominee for the 9th Senate District of Virginia 

Henrico, VA – December 1, 2016 - The 9th  Senate District Legislative Nominating Committee (LNC) is pleased to announce that Delegate Jennifer McClellan will be the Democratic nominee for the 9th Senate District Special Election taking place on January 10, 2017.

 "It is a distinct honor to be named the Democratic nominee for the 9th State Senate District," said McClellan. "I humbly accept the nomination and am looking onward to the Special Election on January 10th." 

Jennifer has served in the House of Delegates since 2006. She represents the 71st District of Virginia, which includes parts of Richmond City and Henrico County.

The 9th  Senate District LNC is comprised of representatives from each local Democratic committee within the 9th Senate District. Upon the election of Donald McEachin to Congress and the vacancy of his Senate seat, the LNC was charged with carrying out the nominating process by which Delegate McClellan was selected the Democratic nominee. McClellan was the only candidate who filed for the nomination. 

Please note that the caucus scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd to select the Democratic candidate for the 9th Senate District has been canceled. 

The Special Election will be held on January 10, 2017 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the regular polling places.

Virginia’s 9th Senate District is a heavily Democratic area made up of part of the City of Richmond, parts of Henrico and Hanover Counties, and all of Charles City County.
